
Mr. Weiss is a partner with Appleseed Healthcare Resources and is an experienced Healthcare Consulting Professional with proven ability to assess service delivery
and processes and implement system improvement strategies that result in significant cost savings. Paul is well regarded for his ability to identify and overcome
organizational resistance to change at all levels. Paul is a conscientious project director, who consistently meets and exceeds client expectations for deliverables,
budget and timeliness.
Paul has been responsible for the strategic planning, development, and management of an Integrated Services Center that provides service to a five-hospital system
as well as a rapidly growing Integrated Healthcare Delivery Network. He has successfully led a Supply Chain Reengineering initiative that leveraged technology while
changing organizational structure, streamlining processes, and skill-mixing positions. This project involved in excess of 100 employees that redesigned Purchasing,
Inventory, Receiving, Distribution, Surgical Services, A/P, CSS, and Asset/Equipment Management.
Paul has held the Corporate Director of Support Services / Logistics Management. He has worked closely with senior management to develop strategic plans for
Support Services that are consistent with the mission/vision and strategic initiatives of the Health System.
Paul designed and installed an integrated automated picking system and associated software that increased productivity by approximately 300% while reducing
picking errors. He successfully led the implementation of a fully integrated materials management information system and installed point of use technologies that
provide detailed patient utilization data from clinical and surgical areas. He was responsible for the planning and design of a new distribution center and coordinated
the relocation of a distribution center with no service disruption. One of Paul’s strong suits is the ability to conceptualize and translate organizational needs into
effective action.
Paul’s most recent accomplishments include:
- Provided Interim Management and Consulting services to UCLA Medical Center. Scope and responsibilities included; assisting with the development of a Supply Chain Strategic Plan, improving supply distribution strategies, assisting with a transition plan to relocate to a new hospital scheduled for the 2nd quarter of 2008, provided mentoring and development to staff and the management team, managed the day-to-day operations of their Central Service/Distribution Services Department.
- Provided Interim Management and Consulting Services to Holy Cross Hospital (a member of Trinity Health). Assisted with the successful implementation of Lawson MMIS, provided strategic, tactical, and operational planning for supply chain services, worked closely with Surgical Services to redesign supply chain processes and acted as the Supply Chain liaison to Trinity Corporate.
- Served as Interim Assistant Vice President of Materials Management for Washington Hospital Center (a member of Medstar). Assisted with the development and implementation of a comprehensive distribution strategy, staff reallocation project, and the organizational restructuring of Materials Management. Also providing consultation services for the same organization in an aggressive Surgical Services Supply Chain initiative, which will involve significant process redesign while leveraging current and future technologies (Lawson and Picis).
