Mr. Caudle is a partner in Appleseed Healthcare Resources. Prior to joining Appleseed, Allen served as the Vice President; Supply Chain Management for Swedish Health Services, Seattle Washington. In this role he has system wide responsibility for all Supply Chain functions for a 1300 bed IDN with annual purchases; 260M (including supplies, Rx and capital). Utilizing Toyota Lean Management Techniques, System Supply costs have been reduced by over $35M annually. Process improvements include Sterile Processing, OR Point of Use Case Cart Management, Forms Processes, Inpatient Critical Use Equipment Management, Inventory Control, Value Analysis, Clinical Resource Management and Standardized Purchasing Protocols. Additionally, Allen has consolidated three Call Centers into a single corporate entity which increased service and reduced costs by 15%.

Prior to his role as VP, Allen served Swedish as the Sr. Director of Hospitality and Logistics with administrative responsibility for Supply Chain (Contracting, Value Analysis, Purchasing, Logistics) Food Services, Housekeeping, Facilities, Bio Medical Engineering, Security and Parking for a 900 bed hospital system. In that role he initiated and sustained a Physical Recourse Management Program which tied together the Facilities Services of Engineering, Construction, Environmental Services and Bio Medical Engineering to create a standardized process which leveraged the strengths of these various areas. The results allowed for better and faster service, reduction in outsourced costs and a team of dedicated individuals who provided superior service at reduced costs.

Earlier, serving as an internal consultant to Swedish, Allen was part of a team charged with a complete redesign of the major business practices at the Medical Center. Outcomes of this process have been realized operating cost reductions of 25%, improvements in service and clinical quality, which will allow Swedish to continue to be the “Best Place to Work, Practice, Partner and Receive Care in the Pacific Northwest”.

Allen is a Lean Logistics expert and was instrumental in establishing Value Analysis as a cornerstone discipline in the healthcare industry. He serves frequently on industry panels and is a sought after educator. Allen received his BA in Economics from California State University, Sacramento CA and earned an MBA from City University, Seattle WA.
